Only recently we have seen the addition of many new motorways, planned rail routes and the new international airport in Corvera planned to open in 2008. This together with the introduction of many budget airlines operating from UK to Murcia (San Javier) and Alicante means getting to Murcia has never been easier. Alicante International Airport is between 30 minutes and an hour away, while Murcia San Javier airport is between15 mins and 40 minutes. If travelling by car there are excellent road links to Alicante. And with the opening of the high speed AVE train link in the near future it will be possible to reach Madrid in only 2 hours. It is improvements like these that have seen the vast rise in property prices.
The capital, Murcia, founded by the Moors in 831, lies next to the Segura River, with its impressive architecture and Spanish appeal.
